Native American Indian
Children's Literature: Series

Books listed here are either by North Native American Indian authors or illustrators or both, including books that also feature non-Indian authors and Native illustrators. Where tribal affiliations are known, they are noted. Our intent is not to be all-inclusive but rather to highlight.

We Are Still Here

Please see the books from Lerner's WE ARE STILL HERE series in the photo essay section. The series includes a couple of books not listed in this bibliography simply because my budget has not yet allowed me to purchase them. I have no reason to believe they would be any less outstanding than others in the series. They are CHILDREN OF CLAY: A FAMILY OF PUEBLO POTTERS and FORT CHIPEWYAN HOMECOMING: A JOURNEY TO NATIVE CANADA. Books from the WE ARE STILL HERE series were edited by Gordon Regguniti (Leech Lake Band Ojibway) with the consultation of W. Roger Buffalohead (Ponca) and Juanita G. Corbine Espinosa (Dakota/Ojiway).
